Check requirements
macOS 11 or later, or 64-bit Windows supported by your FileMaker Pro installation. FileMaker Pro 19 through 2026. The Layout mode and Script Workspace panels are on Mac; Windows has its own feature set.
Available packages: macOS 3.3.1 (Build 89) and Windows 1.5.11. See the release notes for the features shipped in each package.
Genie for Windows (1.5.11) is a separate plug-in. Today it does not include Claude Code and Codex inside Genie, the docked panels in Script Workspace and Layout mode, or layout creation and editing. We are aiming for Windows to match the Mac version at the start of November 2026.
From the archive to your first answer.
- 01
Install the plug-in.
Unzip the archive and follow the installation guide. Then open your file in FileMaker Pro.
- 02
Connect your AI provider.
Pick your provider and paste your key into Genie. It stays in your system keychain. You can also point Genie at a compatible local model.
- 03
Ask the first question.
Name an existing script and ask for an explanation without changes. Confirm the file and script used in the answer.
Explain the script “Save Customer” and its error handling without changing anything.
Replace the name with a real script in your file. Genie reads what it needs from the file. This first task is free; creating and editing need a paid plan.
